HiI am working on a win2003 machine and i'm to connect to a remote sql server using a connection string in my asp pages with the other server's ip.The connection is working, however, establishing the connection takes about 10 seconds(!!) everytime.Have you have encountered something like that?please help me asap...thanks

is there any backups occuring , check in your current activity window in the management folder in EM, also check in task manager to see if your CPU usage and available RAM is not maxed out.Your max connections for the server may also be exceeded !

that sql server is working perfectly fine when we access it from scripts from the same server. The connection is way too slow only when connecting to it from another server by ip address....

when is it slow?when you open the connection or when you execute the query?is you network latency acceptable?what queries are you running? are they in transactions? Is it SS2k or SS2k5?If it's SS2k it could be because the SQL server DTC (distributed transaction manager) is kicking in to hadle the transaction.Go with the flow & have fun!
