We run SQL 2000 on one server and Exchange 2003 on another. I want to create a linked server in SQL 2000 that will give me the mail data from Exchange. I've read BOL re Exchange. I don't want to create SQL Mail.
Any info or pointers would be appreciated.

oConn.Provider = "EXOLEDB.DataSource"
oConn.Open = "http://myServerName/myVirtualRootName"

I don't think I've got the provider installed.
How would I find the value for 'myVirtualRootName'?

You ask your exchange administrator.

Another example
conn.open "http://servername/mypublicstore"
