| I have a store procedure which runs in the vb.net. this store procedure link to a remote server.I used one connection string to link the local server. I got a error "Access to the remote server is denied because no login-mapping exists". this store procedure works in sql analyzer.I did the steps below, but I got the same error message. You can resolve the problem by mapping the SQL Agent startup account on the localserver to a remote user on the remote server. You can make it through the SQLEnterprise Manager. Here's how the mapping can be done:1. Right-click on the linked server and select the Properties option. The LinkedServer Properties dialog will appear.2. Select the Security tab.3. Add the account that the SQL Agent uses in the 'Local login' field.4. Add the username on the remote server that the SQL Agent is to use in thecorresponding 'Remote user' field.5. Supply the appropriate password. |

| Does your stored procedure just do just a SELECT or more? When I'm doing a SELECT against the linked server everything works fine. If I try doing an INSERT or UPDATE against a table on the linked server I get the "no login-mapping exists" message.Anyone have any clue why Sql 2005 can see my login-mapping for the SQL Agent account for SELECT but not for INSERT or UPDATE? |
