My Table Name is CMTN ColumnName is IdNo and the value type I have given is nchar(10).

It means you are trying to fit a string of length X into a column of length X-N. The server won't do that because it would lead to data loss (the end of the string).
What is the datatype of the destination column, and what is the datatype (or maximum length) of the data that you are trying to insert?

could u post the table structure and the insert statement.
If the insert statement has some values from other tables, give the structure of those as well

I have also encounted this problem after correcting the size of the column. I have found that Sql server still thinks the size of the column hasn't changed but when you use sp_help it clearly has.

I have posted this on the MSDN site but have still not had any replies.

Havent ever experienced that. Have had this error few times before and correcting column size fixed it.
