| Hi Team, Let me explain my doubts. There are two types of query optimizer 1. Syntax-based 2. Cost-based. Whatever I know, SQL Server internally maintain this optimization issue. Now I have two doubts. 1. Can user select the option before running any proc/sql statement? 2. If question no. 1 is wrong then how SQL server decides which optimizer to select? Please guide me. Thanks in advance. Regards Arijit Chatterjee |

| syntax based?Think you are talking about the concept of changing the query to change the query plan. That's possible but the optimiser is always cost based.Things like the order of expressions would matter (unless the query is very large and there is a limit on how long to trake optimising). You can use forceplan to force the order of joins.==========================================Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.DTS can be used in a similar way.Beer is not cold and it isn't fizzy. |
