I have developed a SQL-based application that teachers use to record academic progress data and generate student reports. I'd like, if possible, to allow users to work offline by creating the recordsets they need (basically reports for students in their classes) rather than the entire db locally and then allowing them to sync back in at a later date. Is this possible? The front end is Windows forms. Thanks

Well, if you are using the .Net Application then, you can make all the changes or anything in theDataset and then when everything is done you can update that to the SQL Server. But i dont think this will be the right thing to do, since data will not be consistant, if any other users try to access the data then he will not get the updated..Chirag

Yes, this is possible, but a little involved. You will probably want to use SQL Merge Replication (see SQL Server BOL). The object model for SQL Replication is exposed so you would be able to automate the much of the sync/update process in your application.
