hi,
i am a novice in terms of SQL server.
I am trying to build an advanced search page for my shopping cart application(web application).
The behaviour i would like to achieve is :
user can select from 3 drop down boxes.
drop down box # 1 )Meterial : Gold,
Silver,
Broonze.
onece the user has selected the meterail, then he can further refine his search by selecting Size(2,3,4,5...)
After selecting size,lastly he can further refine the search by selecting type : (ring,pendant,bangle,....)
Now, i am trying to achieve this behaviour by a query like this.
select * from table where meterial like '%xxx%' AND size like '%xxx%' AND type like '%xxx%';
but its not working...
i just have a clue that i might have to use embedded queries..
Any help is appericiated.
Regards

U can use the selection of combo box as a parameter to a Stored Procedure and get the results as return

I don't find any benefit or need of using "Like" clause here. however, u can refer to Books Online to read more about "Like"
