Can someone help me out. What is best practice to give a specific user the right to execute a specific stored procedure?

you mean criteria to determine if a user should have exec rights?

that depends if the user really needs to execute the sproc

or am i over simplifying this?

Never mind found it. Using the Ent. manager I was able to assign exec permission for this procedure to a databaserole.
