 problem with using "in"

i have a subquery like this :

select top 100 percent clientid from table1 where

table1.userinfo='123546' and clientid not in (select clientid from #tmpTable)

order by clientid desc



in the #tmpTable i have : clientid and a column called "datatype"

with some rows!

the error that i recive is :

"cannot resolve collection conflict for equal to operation"

what is the problem?

Your database's collation and the temp table collation if different.

but the table1.clientid and the clientid from the #tmpTable are fromthe same type - nvarchar(10)

not data type but collation.
execute
sp_help table1 

and see what is the collation for your column ?

And also see what is the default collation of your server
select serverproperty('collation')

can i define as part of a create table of type #tmptable is collate using serverproperty('collation') to read the database colletion?

ow i have solved the problem using the collate as part of the select on the equal operator
and i will checkthe link again for my other question thanks alot
