Eric writes "A customer of ours is unable to install MSDE SP3 on any of his 3 Dell Dimension E310 PCs. When enabling the verbose logging during setup all 3 computers come back with EXACTLY the same log (shown below). The computers are running Win XP Media Center Edition. They all have File & Print Sharing services enabled. The Server and Workstation services are both started. I tried closing all programs (including their Panda Anti-Virus - I also stopped all the Panda services for good measure) before doing the install, checking the registry for previous versions of the software (none found), running the install directly from the CD and again from the hard drive. All to no avail. The C: drive where we are attempting to install the software has over 50 gigs free. Please help if you can.=== Verbose logging started: 1/31/2006 18:09:10 Build type: SHIP UNICODE 3.01.4000.2435 Calling process: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exe ===MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:10:765]: Resetting cached policy valuesMSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:10:765]: Machine policy value 'Debug' is 0MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:10:765]: ******* RunEngine: ******* Product: C:\Server\Setup\SqlRun01.msi ******* Action: ******* CommandLine: **********MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:10:828]: Machine policy value 'DisableUserInstalls' is0MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:265]: SOFTWARE RESTRICTION POLICY: Verifyingpackage --> 'C:\Server\Setup\SqlRun01.msi' against software restrictionpolicyMSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:265]: Note: 1: 2262 2: DigitalSignature 3: -2147287038 MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:265]: SOFTWARE RESTRICTION POLICY: C:\Server\SetupSqlRun01.msi is not digitally signedMSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:281]: SOFTWARE RESTRICTION POLICY: C:\Server\SetupSqlRun01.msi is permitted to run at the 'unrestricted' authorization level.MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:390]: Cloaking enabled.MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:390]: Attempting to enable all disabled privelegesbefore calling Install on ServerMSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:406]: End dialog not enabledMSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:406]: Original package ==> C:\Server\Setup\SqlRun01.msiMSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:406]: Package we're running from ==> C:\DOCUME~1ROYSCH~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\bc25776.msiMSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:484]: APPCOMPAT: looking for appcompat databaseentry with ProductCode '{E09B48B5-E141-427A-AB0C-D3605127224A}'.MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:484]: APPCOMPAT: no matching ProductCode found indatabase.MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:484]: MSCOREE not loaded loading copy from system32MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Machine policy value 'TransformsSecure' is 0MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: User policy value 'TransformsAtSource' is 0MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Note: 1: 2205 2: 3: MsiFileHash MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Machine policy value 'DisablePatch' is 0MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Machine policy value 'AllowLockdownPatch' is0MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Machine policy value 'DisableLUAPatching' is0MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Machine policy value'DisableFlyWeightPatching' is 0MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: APPCOMPAT: looking for appcompat databaseentry with ProductCode '{E09B48B5-E141-427A-AB0C-D3605127224A}'.MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: APPCOMPAT: no matching ProductCode found indatabase.MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Transforms are not secure.MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Note: 1: 2262 2: Control 3: -2147287038 MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Command Line: DISABLENETWORKPROTOCOLS=0 SA...MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: PROPERTY CHANGE: Adding PackageCode property. Its value is '{D29DCF7A-8199-4373-BA0D-2F3635EC940C}'.MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Product Code passed to Engine.Initialize:''MSI (c) (5C:08) [18:09:11:703]: Product Code from property table beforetransforms: '{E0 |
