Hi!

We have a system with one central database server with 10 clients.
During normal operation all the clients use the central database.
But now the customer also wants to be able to run from the local database on the client.

But before doing that, all the data in the central database needs to be copied into the local client database.
This has been done before by using a DTS package. The problem here is that the customer changes password each month, and then you need to manually edit the DTS package to get access.

What I want to do is a procedure that runs on the local database that connects to the central database, triggers a backup, and when finished restores the local database with the new backup.

Can this be done?

Any input would be appreciated.

Have you looked into replication?
