 problem with bigint data type

hello everyone, i am new to SQL hope u guys dont mind. :)


in microsoft SQL server 2000,
integer data stored using data type below:-
-bigint
-int
-smallint
-tinyint

my problem is:

For the bigint
how to cope the problem if my integer data to be stored are larger then it can affort,any solution??

Must be big numbers you are dealing with to be larger than BIGINT.

You can have up to 38 digits in a NUMERIC(38,0) datatype.

select
BIG_INT = convert(bigint,0x7FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF) ,
BIG_NUM =
convert(numeric(38,0),99999999999999999999999999999999999999)



BIG_INT BIG_NUM
-------------------- ----------------------------------------
9223372036854775807 99999999999999999999999999999999999999
