HI all,

my first post, is to discuss if i have found an bug or if its just me doing something wrong.

From VB i execute using ado the following statement:

backup Database Database name to Disk = 'C:\Test.bak'

when database is an normal database name it works fine!
But when database is an database with an space in its name

the ado component says that there is an error near TO...

Any one ideas?

Another one:

I also use the Microsoft Tools wich come with the SQL server editions..

when i restore an db (from an db on the server) to a new name (non created database) it first says that it cant do that, then when i click overwrite... and UNDO it again...

it lets me restore but i have no idea if it then overwrites or not..
(the V is still unchecked)..

Hope to hear...

Tks

Chuck a pair of square brackets around the name...

ie backup database [my poorly named database] etc...

HINT.. Don't use spaces for any object name in a database.. or in any programming language in general...

Instead of space use underscore(_) to avoid this kind of difficulties
