Don Waldhalm writes "I have several instances of SQL on my server (I'm using MSDE--I don't have enterprise manager). I created the newest instance for a .Net app that I'm writing.

I've started the service for the instance in question, I've restored from a backup (I'm moving data from an existing instance on another server). I can work with the new instance of SQL on the server (qurey it with command propmt). However, I can't see it from anywhere on the LAN. It does not show up on the list of servers (osql -L) --even on the local server.

What step am I missing?"

Not sure if I can help you, but a good place to start is by getting this nice free utility MSDE Manager
