I was hoping to avoid using any stored procedures. It seems very easy to concatenate characters on to a varchar field. But it seems difficult to do the same type of thing to a "text" field. I am really looking to use some sort of select or update statement to append a block of characters to a "text" field.

The reference you gave me was about the same conclusion I came to. You must use some sort of pointer to the "text" field, and then update it. That seems quite a bit more difficult than just appending the text to the field.

Thanks.
