Iain writes "I need to find the first instance of each unique value (and associated row) in a table ordered by date, thus getting a list of the most recent changes people have made.

thus a table like this :


Date    person    changed

6/1/01  Alex       Form 3
5/1/01  Alex       Form 5
4/1/01   Sid       Form 4
3/1/01  Alex       Form 12
2/1/01  Jeff       Form 8
1/1/01   Sid       Form 1

Becomes :


Date    person    changed

6/1/01  Alex       Form 3
4/1/01   Sid       Form 4
2/1/01  Jeff       Form 8
