i'd have to say that denortmalization can be usefull when needed. those scenarios are rare but they can happen.
i once worked on an app that proved haveing denormalized table was acctually easier and quicker than having it properly normalized. it was of those apps for the government where the app wouldn't change if the law wouldn't change. and if the law changed then the app would become obsolete so it didn't matter

I believe if you search the forum for "denormalization", you will find millions of threads about this very thing. Try that, and let us know if you need more information.

I'm gonna comment on this one.....take my advice swarnanp! Don't go there! Curiosity about DE-normalization is like being curious about the swamp and then when you're hip deep into it you see the crocodile!
