I've often thought that the SQLTeam Yak Corral was like a daytime soap opera on TV, and now I have proven it. I disappear from SQLTeam for 6 months, then tune back in and I pick up the story line right where I left off. Tara rules the world, Kristen and Brett stir up trouble, somebody is too annoying and gets locked out... Even the blasted Simple Quiz is still going strong! Amazing!

Work, work, work...

Thanks Maddy. The real answer is that I have been doing a lot of ASP.NET / C# development with tight deadlines and mostly easy SQL, so that has kept me away. And I'm pretty busy away from work, too.

I thought I might actually have gotten bumped to the second page by the time I got back, but I didn't. Guess that just shows how much the top responders continue to be most active.

"I thought I might actually have gotten bumped to the second page by the time I got back"
Which immediately leads to the following questions:
How long did you think you were going to be away?
How fast does the earth spin?

And the follow up quiz:
When will Mark be bumped off the first page?

Well, Rocky, I didn't make any guesses as to how long I'd be gone. I just got busy and every once in a while I would think about it having been a while since I got back and boy wouldn't that ACTIVE POSTS page be just a nightmare to navigate through and I should check-in to see how everyone (except* Merkin and Graz) is doing and then I'd go back to work. I didn't actually think about being bumped to Page 2 until I was getting ready to get back on the site and post my SSRS question (to which nobody has an answer yet, darn the luck) and then I thought about it.

As for your other questions, well, the earth spins fast enough to make one complete revolution in one day.

And if you're going to start taking bets as to when I actually will get bumped off the first page, I'd say that if I stay away for more long stretches, based on the rate of pursuit over the last 6 months, I'm thinking it will be several years. Perhaps 20100712. Of course it's unlikely that I'll stay away that whole time unless I become suddenly wealthy, in which case you're on your own.

* I actually knew how Merkin and Graz were doing because I communicated with them outside of SQLTeam. I know it sounds weird, but y'all should try it some time. Real conversation...it's an interesting phenomena.

and your bad luck is that the person who'd probably be able to answer it got kiced off the team...

Never made it to the pub...
About Mark getting bumped 2 2nd page, I doubt it will ever happen in the finite time that sqlteam will live

Suddenly wealthy, I hope you make it Mark!
But keep posting here anyway .

"sweep stake"
Yes, not much of a quiz was it

... After scrolling back up to see what the thread was about ...

Well, Merkin on messenger, but I'm trying to convince him to come to Seattle for PASS at the end of the year. Graz in person a couple of times and email in-between.

real conversation: real-time exchange of words between two or more people that is not published or otherwise broadcast for others to review at their leisure and which covers topics outside of the initial subject that brought the people together in the first place.

That's a good start. Or maybe I should say you haven't had a real conversation until you have strongly disagreed on a subject without being disagreeable.

I have no idea what your talking about.....

And I just got back from a week of skiing in New Hampshire...

Sunday was 65 degrees and we skiied free at Cannon, and on Wednesday we drove to Bethel Maine to Ski Sunday River and it was 27 degrees and we got a goot of powder over night.

Powder in April!

Pow-Pow!

And to be fair, unless something was deleted that I didn't read, Jon's outburst was not even 1/10 of crespo...unless Jon is crespo and he has a short lease.

But I didn't think crespo read the bible for pleasure reading.
