That is hillarious "And then, across the square, I saw it: the world's largest Windows error message"

That has got to be the worst invention by MS "An error occurred please press ok to contact ms"
Thats as bad as the blue screen of death.

U can turn it off you know ...

>>Thats as bad as the blue screen of death.
I see... :)
The fact that you stay in the system with first and that you have to pray to log on again with second is minor detail.

ps: what do you think about my other space? Is it as bad as my English or maybe, and just maybe I hit something there....

As bad a the blue screen of death? I think just having an application crash is a little bit better than the whole OS going down, don't you?

What do you mean by: "Do you want to allow the task manager to come up" security threats ?

I don't know about Vista, but if you are refering to ability to enumerate processes and windows and kill them or do anything you like to them as privilegies don't exist for that kind of system calls, then you are refereing to one of the greatest security holes in Microsoft Windows wich is known as "shatter attacks", and it can not be changed in future versions of Windows without heavy reconstructure of Windows architecture.

If you forbid me Task Manager, I can always use some 3td party alternative like ProcessExplorer or TaskInfo which are portable so you can't even catch their installation and simple hacks can hide everything specific about those processes. Or you can create your own...

and oh yeah... jhemriz... stop insulting others ("Come on stop being stupid"). I guess that some anymals are more equal then others, right ?

majkinetor,

1)I am referring to the popup that comes up on the new vista install when you try to go to the task manager. You will need to try it out to understand.

2)No one is insulting, he made an instigating comment which Jeff usually does to start stuff, I merely told him to stop being stupid.

3)Learn how to spell and structure your sentences in English, you barely make any sense.

Complaining that the OS gives an error message when an application crashes, and saying it is almost as bad as the whole OS crashing ... that doesn't make much sense. What should the OS do? Forbid apps from crashing? Magically re-compile to app on the fly and fix any bad code? Did you know that poorly written apps will crash on linux and even (gasp!) OSX ? What do those OS's do when an application must be terminated?

I'm not trying to pick a fight or call people names, but statements like those come off as an "ignorant MS-hating". I guess I shouldn't say that you *are* one of those people, so I apologize for that, but saying things like that makes you sound like one.

Now, if you want to say that "getting those error messages are annoying", as you revised, that is one thing -- of course it's a valid opinion. No one likes it when their applications crash, and that error message is not fun to get. But to say that it is almost as bad as the entire OS crashing, or that alerting the user when an application crashes is "one of the worst inventions from microsoft" is something completely different.

I think its annoying period. No ifs ands or buts, and the new vista and the annoying messages that ask me if I want to allow windows to open up task manager is even more annoying. Yes I do hate that, but it does not make me anti-ms, otherwise I wouldnt be writing code in or for MS Products. A lot of people are annoyed with things like their jobs, but its not the best idea to just quit your job, you have to deal with it. Thats all...just like annoying gas prices, or annoying users, or annoying taxes....

Jon, then my simple advice is to actually say what you mean!

i.e., "those error messages are annoying." Simple, direct, to the point, few can argue.

But you said
quote:

That has got to be the worst invention by MS "An error occurred please press ok to contact ms"
Thats as bad as the blue screen of death.

Do you see the difference between those two statements? Worse, you then called me stupid because I actually responded to your written words, as if I should have been able to read your mind.

It's like if I say you are the biggest moron in the world in one post, you fire back at me (rightfully so, of course), and then I say "what are you all upset for? I simply said I disagree with your comments."

I hope this makes some sense. Let's move on.
