I know that this probably is a longshot but do you guys know if it's possible to make feature requests for sql server management studio 2008? Maybe you MVP's can do it? hehe...My idea is this: I often deal with somewhat large databases with quite a few objects like a few hundred tables/views/procedures and I think it would be *reeeeely* handy to be able to group some of them together in folders with custom names. So if I have 15 procedures that deals with customers I can make a "Customers"-folder within the Database -> Programmability -> Stored Procedures folder and put them all in there. This should have absolutely no impact whatsoever on the naming of the objects in sql scripts and such, only a logical grouping as an aid to easily finding the right objects in a reasonable time. What do you think...??--Lumbago"Real programmers don't document, if it was hard to write it should be hard to understand" |

Yes schemas.... and if you run your sprocs from jobs then you can also manage them by using categories for the jobs.Duane. |

Umh...I haven't used them much to be honest but they were not exactly what I had in mind. As far as I know you have to use the schema name when referencing the object don't you? And even though they are sorted in the same location you still see all the objects when expanding i.e. stored procedures. I was thinking more in the lines of dragging and dropping objects in to folders without having to change basically anything at all. Sort of like arranging layers in Photoshop if you guys know how to do that...--Lumbago"Real programmers don't document, if it was hard to write it should be hard to understand" |
