I am looking around for an ultraportable and was thinking of the Lenovo ThinkPad X60 http://www5.pc.ibm.com/uk/products.nsf/Products?openagent&brand=Thinkpad&series=ThinkPad+X+SeriesIt's only for general use - MS Office and that sort of thing but it will be thrown into a rucksack regularly and carried around on a bike. It also needs a docking station available.Does anyone have any experiences of this or similar ultraportables?I was also thinking of getting something like this http://www.techair.co.uk/store/productdetails.asp?ProductId=92 for it to be carried in. Any thoughts/experiences anyone?steve-----------Don't worry head. The computer will do all the thinking from now on. |

I don't have an X60, but I do have a thinkpad T60. It's a very good laptop especially when I compare it to Dell, Sony, Gateway and HP laptops that friends have. The X60 has a really small screen and low resolution (1024x768). For me, that is a deal breaker. Also, I'm not sure how the vodafone 3G service works in the UK, but we have verizon EV-DO here and I don't think I can ever get a laptop now that doesn't have some kind of WWAN support like this. If the vodafone coverage is good you might want to consider getting the X60 that has this feature.-ec |

Thanks for the comments EC, much appreciated. By coincidence the vodafone 3G service is one of the things we are considering for future remote desktop accesssteve-----------Don't worry head. The computer will do all the thinking from now on. |
