First time I went to Texas, probably 20 years ago, they told me that in Texas they only had to learn Texan history - not even America history, let alone World history.Was that true, or were they pulling my leg? |

Probably not. He's right, Texans aren't really Americans, at least they don't think they are.If you're really bored (or interested) you should Google for "texas influence textbooks" and you should find a fairly long article about how school textbooks are sold. It's scary and fascinating. Basically, if you can't sell the textbook to California and Texas then it never gets sold. |

It was in Texas that a clerk in the International Law Department of a huge oil company asked me "Is China a country" ... I guess there is Texan Geography as well as Texan History ... or lack of maybe! |
