This is because you have only "remote admin" option set. Install full remote desktop from Control Panel.

Control Panel on the machine where you want to connect remotely.
Install "Remote Desktop Components" from Control Panel (tab called System parts or similar).

Which is exactly the limit when using "remote admin only" choice.
This allows a maximum of two connections.

okay you may be onto something mate...

when i run "mstsc" from my local machine i get the error:

- other computer may be running a windows earlier then vista???
- or other computer is running RDM security mode

however when i remote to other machine using start > programs > admin > remote desktops

itll work using my username which is (mina.mike) but only 2 logins at a time

does that help?

the reason i think i have remote desktop installed is that all other services such as licence configuration shows up

"Remote admin mode" is not for ADMINISTRATORS only.
It simply means that only two connections are allowed to administer the server remotely, with any account that has enough privileges.

Go to Control Panel and add the option REMOTE DESKTOP from SYSTEM tab.

terminal services works in 2 modes for windows 2003

1. Terminal server mode
2. Remote desktop for administrators mode

Remote desktop for administrators mode allows 2 connections (actually 3) to the server. There is no cost to this as it is used for administrative purposes.

Terminal server mode allows (nearly) unlimited connections to a server. there is a cost to this, as a CAL is needed for each client.

Go here for all the information you will need on how to properly setup and configure RDP on your server http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/techinfo/overview/tsremoteadmin.mspx
