I have upgraded the express verion of SQL Express to 2005 standard edition and which includes the DTS package, however, the utility does not appear in the all-task option. Is there an add on utitliy that is to be installed for this to be made avalible?

Never mind I found it. It installs a file here C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\DTS\Binn\DTSWizard.exe. I can run it directly or add to SSMS Tools - External Tools. Works great!

Could you say which DTS files you installed?

When I installed SQLServer2005_DTS there is no DTSWizard executable. What is the file that you downloaded called?

Kearton,

I'm not clear exactly what you're after, could you restate your questions?

DTS has been depricated in SQL Server 2005 and replaced by Integration Services (SSIS). If you have a need to run old SQL 2000 DTS packages while you are moving to SSIS, you can download the SQL Server 2005 Backwards Compatability Package. If you might need to design those same packages, you should also get the SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Component. Both of these are available from the SQL 2005 Feature pack download site at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=df0ba5aa-b4bd-4705-aa0a-b477ba72a9cb&DisplayLang=en. (Note: We will be releasing updates to the Feature Pack when SQL 2005 SP2 ships.)

To be clear, SQL Express does not support the DTS designer and Management Studio Express will not show DTS components in the menu. You need to have one of the paid Editions of SQL for that. Also, the DTSWizard.exe file is the Import/Export wizard, not the whole DTS package. The Import/Export wizard is not currently support in SQL Express.

I found the same problem. I install the identical software on 2 new computers. One has 1 gig ram and the other has 500 meg. The 500 meg computer seems to run setup OK but no DTSWizard or DTS folder is not created. Weird. I will put in 1 gig ram tomorrow to match the prerequisite.
