I asked question while back about Log PI tool, it did not get any replies but I found out it is no longer supported and developed. Now I would like some feedback about other tools that can help with log recovery. I heard about Lumigent, Red Gate and Apex SQL. Any more alternatives? Also I would like your feedback about customer support, pricing, updates, features etc.

Thank you

The Lumigent and Red Gate tools are reviewed fairly extensively in the October 2006 issue of SQL Server Magazine

Your best bet is always to have a comprehensive backup strategy so resorting to some of these tools isn't ever necessary...

true, however getting to an object that was inadvertantly deleted by a developer in a 100GB database is a lot easier with log explorer. The alternative is time consuming.

Along these lines, it would be cool if SQL server had an import/export function like Oracle does. Any chance of something like that ever being written?

Sadly I’m not a subscriber :( Have any other articles maybe that are public? I have checked these tools and found amazing that none support SQL2k5 yet. It’s been a while 2k5 is out and my company is among ones that will migrate to it soon.
