I've been playing around with Google's customized search feature. I've used it to build a tool to search certain SQL Server sites. Is this something worth linking to from the site? Are there other sites or blogs I should be searching? I'm considering removing the Microsoft sites and only searching community sites.===============================================Creating tomorrow's legacy systems today. One crisis at a time. |

I've added a few of those sites. Some you listed were general programming sites. I added the SQL Server specific ones. I may build another one for developer focused searches. Keep posting sites you like!===============================================Creating tomorrow's legacy systems today. One crisis at a time. |

It should also pre-filter questions about formatting data and answer "Do this in your client application" ... |

I think the sqlserver forum on dbforums would be worth adding:http://www.dbforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=7 SqlSpec - a fast, cheap, and comprehensive data dictionary generator forSQL Server 2000/2005 and Analysis Server 2005 - http://www.elsasoft.org |

Blimey, even scrolls the SQLTeam pages to the right place ...I searched for "xxyyzz" (well, "Bollocks" too, of course!)Can you make it ignore POST.ASP pages? (which Snitz ought really to meta-tag as NOINDEX - another story that one, of course).Example: "I am setting up a new server and we need to migrate the sql server 2000 databases"you need the quotes! the result:http://www.sqlteam.com/Forums/post.asp?method=ReplyQuote&REPLY_ID=145097&TOPIC_ID=44537&FORUM_ID=6is the type of thing I find annoying (the regular http://www.sqlteam.com/Forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=44537 is found too, but often comes later in the listings IME)Appending:-inurl:"post.asp"fixes this for a manual search, dunno if you can "hide" that within the COOP config?I think there should be a more results per page - I favour more scrolling over paging - I reckon 50 / page would be OK, but certainly less that 20 or 25 seems to few per page - to me anyway.Looks really good & useful; cheers Graz.Kristen |

Weird. POST.ASP is removed in robots.txt. I've removed it from the search results. Google actually required a case-sensitive URL to remove this. That makes no sense.Right now there isn't a way to change the number of results per page.===============================================Creating tomorrow's legacy systems today. One crisis at a time. |
