Folk: Tell me if this is going to piss you right off.I figure that although some days I see close to 100% of posts many days I skate through ones that are highlighted as me having replied, if I have time also the ones my browser recognises that I have previously read, and may any others that have an interesting title or 0 replies so far. If I'm sufficient away I click on posts originated by people I respect, and I click on their MemberName occasionally to keep them "recognised" by my browser to make that easier. And sometimes I also any threads that have lots of reads/replies in the hope of some interesting debate.I reckon there are lots of learned-discussion posts that I am missing, and frankly whoever first answered the post from a Newbie about how to split a CSV [Thanks khtan, The Saint, Madhi-with-the-premature-skill! et al] doesn't need me to re-read etc.So I wonder about posts here (somewhere better?) that advertise interesting posts? An icon in Snitz that learned & respected folk could set (sort of peer-review-voting I suppose) would be great, but no doubt that's a pipe-dream too!.Anyways, to kick the ball off I though this thread was interesting:Upsert proc, locking hintsKristen |

You mean something like the list you maintain?I agree, this is very useful, but I am sorry to say I also see the difficulty where to set the bar. When is it useful for the experts, when is it useful for intermediate and when is it useful for newbies?Peter LarssonHelsingborg, Sweden |

Nah, didn't quite mean that Peso. I was meaning folk posting a link here (or somewhere more appropriate) when they see something the regulars might be interested in.If it becomes a history of useful training material for folk who are studying SQL Server that's coolyeah, we can call it the KnowledgeBase - should be worth loads of Wonger!Kristen |

It's a great idea but to get something like this working Snitz would probably have to be called in. A "thumbs up" or "thumbs down" voting system or a "rate this thread" or something...there are way too many interesting posts to be maintained by someone. At least that's what I think...--Lumbago"Real programmers don't document, if it was hard to write it should be hard to understand" |

I like the idea...if I've been away for awhile I just basically start from new posts knowing that I've missed some jems. Maintenence is definately the challenge. I'm thinking something analogous to a sports "highlight reel". could include topics with just an interesting discussion, some kickass new technique, or perhaps an uproariously funny comment.Be One with the OptimizerTG |

Perhaps a new forum to post links to interesting threads?Or maybe an agreed on post title prefix to add links in an existing forum? How about the Article Discussion forum? It doesn't get that much activity.CODO ERGO SUM |

It's nice to see you have other interests other than SQL Server Michael It's a very good idea, could be fun too.Today's interesting find was Craig Freedmans weblog : Craig Freedman's WebLogthrough Page47's reply on this topic : Building queries ... (TOPIC_ID=72828)A small applcation that would allow you to just enter an url and short description/comment and Auto-post it to this "Interesting Threads" thread. To keep everyone on topic, only valid ..sqlteam.com/forums/.. links would be digested.rockmoose |
