I started receiving emails from mssqltips.com this week. I don't remember signing up. The website seems new, and the "about" link doesn't give any names. Just some helpful guys, who want to send me an email every now and then... (3 emails in 2 days) I guess it's my "daily resouce for SQL tips" whether I want 'em or not... Anybody know these guys? |

From a Monty Phyton showhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spam_%28Monty_Python%29-- This one's tricky. You have to use calculus and imaginary numbers for this. You know, eleventeen, thirty-twelve and all those. |

They did the same thing to me. Only they added two of my email addresses without asking. Not really a good way to make friends in the SQL community.===============================================Creating tomorrow's legacy systems today. One crisis at a time. |

I should add when you unsubscribe you can complain to their mailing service. They are using an organization called ConstantContact. I've complained to them about other clients spamming me and they've been very helpful. Because I run a site like this I get signed up for new newsletters all the time.===============================================Creating tomorrow's legacy systems today. One crisis at a time. |

Hi everyone,Just found out about this topic and wanted to reply. Sorry for anyone that feels like you got spammed. The emails that were used were from emails collected on our primary website edgewoodsolutions.com. Wasn't sure of the best way to inform people about the new site, so we used the emails that we have been collecting from people registering for resources avaiable on our site. There is an option to unsubscribe and as someone mentioned we are using ConstantContact to send out the emails and they are very diligent about not sending out spam. If you are not intersted in getting future emails, please unsubsribe and your name will be removed immediately. Also, another feature with ConstantContact is once you unsubscribe you are the only one that can signup again, so your name can not get put back on the list unless you do so.Best Regards,Greg Robidoux |

"Also, another feature with ConstantContact is once you unsubscribe you are the only one that can signup again, so your name can not get put back on the list unless you do so."That sounds like a sensible trick - how does that work in practice - do I have to remember that I was once a member of the list? or can I sign up at the original site, but go through an extra step or somesuch?ThanksKristen |

When you unsubscribe from the list it marks your email address as permanent removal. This way the site owner can not add the name back again. If you decide to signup again you will get an email so you can opt in to the mailing list along with the abilty to select which topics you want to be included in. When you signup again it will reactivate your email address. |

Greg,(IMHO) - put an "About" (or "Contacts" or "Leadership/Management/Principals") page on your site. It seemed a little creepy when I couldn't easily find who was behind mssqltips.com.Sam |
