I receive the following error message when trying to start database mirroring (dm). Dm is without a Witness and the operation mode is "Synchronized"The mirror database, "UserDefinedDatabase", has insufficient transaction log data to preserve the log backup chain of the principal database. This may happen if a log backup from the principal database has not been taken or has not been restored on the mirror database. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 1478)The OS is 2003 x64 (Last build), SQL Server is 2005 Enterprise x64.The Principal and Mirror are on physical different servers. The database is in full recovery model, the compatibility level is 9.I am able to setup and start database mirroring for a number of small database in the same SQL Instance, both not for any of the VLDB's ?I have tried to remove the allready enabled dm's and the endpoint, but the outcome is the same.I have also tried to create a new backup and coping it to Mirror server using BACKUP with MIRROR TO DISK, the result is the same error message. |

If a error with this message occur, you may be able to solve the issue if you first restore the full backup and then a backup of the transaction log on the mirrored server. Why this is not mentioned in BOL I don't know. But it works |
