You can't undo it (there's not even an unsupported way to do it - the data you overwrote isn't stored anywhere)RegardsPaul RandalLead Program Manager, Microsoft SQL Server Storage Engine(Legalese: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.) |

At least you noticed ... I had a client do this and not notice for a month, and then they had to find all the data from the missing 10 days and re-key it (Their database contained data which very seldom changed, which is why they didn't notice. Same thing though, the operator accidentally pressed RESTORE instead of BACKUP - albeit not in a SQL Server system ...)Sorry to say it, but you need a backup strategy. The Maintenance Wizard can be set to backup all "User Databases" - so as soon as you create a new database it will be in the backup strategy [daily / hourly / every minute!!! / whatever you choose]Kristen |

I'm confuseed on this one. Wouldn't you have to check the "Force restore over existing database" box on the options tab?Tony W |

Doesn't that relate to whether the original filenames of the backup match existing DB names, or not?Kristen |
