"that's a lot of links...."Well, just intended as a "proof of concept" really ...I'd appreciate comments on what you think of the IDEA (rather than the actual things the links point to!!)Kristen |

I like it. Are you going to have a page somewhere or are you going to keep editing this thread? |

I could definitely see that as a sticky topic in the 'New To SQLTeam' forum...but I don't think it belongs in a blog. Most of the vagrant viewers won't make it to a blog...CoreyCo-worker on The Wizard of Oz "...those three midgets that came out and danced, the freaked me out when I was little. >> Most of the vagrant viewers won't make it to a blogI beg to differ.People who have blogs at other sites - constantly browse our blogs and make refference to posts on our blogs. And that in turn means more hits from a google searchTrust me - I know Duane. |

Hey - don't think that one's finished by a long chalk matey. One of them is now off work with Stress AND I didn't say a thing to him (honest)More seriously can I propose http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnsqlmag04/html/InjectionProtection.asp as a sticky (or something closely related to it)steveAlright Brain, you don't like me, and I don't like you. But lets just do this, and I can get back to killing you with beer. |

I would hate it to be in a blogg. However, referencing the core posts from a Blog would be coolReasons being:This is about enabling a user who is about to post in a forum finding an answer first, and going away happy. Or being "sent to the sticky" to find the answer.I spend a long time hunting down URLs for answers, it would be great if I could just say "The answer to your problem is in the Sticky at the top of this Forum" and not have to find the exact URL of some blogg entry, or at a remote site.Possibly (depending on the permissions assigned to the Stickies) anyone could add a new link to [their own message in] the sticky thread - with a Blog (or the FAQ on the main site) we are dependant on someone getting around to it.And lastly, I don't think its got anything to do with on-going education or frequent visitors, its about answering recurring questions. So, yes I would agree that a newly added link to a "really cool explanatory thread" might also be a good candidate for someone to add to their blog, I don't think the standard list of Frequently Given Answers should be in one person's blog.Re: Google It currently spiders all over the site without much trouble, so I don't think it needs a helping hand for this particular job, or am I missing something?Kristen |
