I don't know, but I delete them as soon as I get an e-mail that it was posted. For a while, I was having to do about 10 or so per day. Now it's very few, so it's easy to keep up with it.

I swear I got blasted with about 100 of them a few times in successive weeks, which is when I turned off my comments. And i noticed I could not turn them off globally in my preferences, I had to go to each post one by one and disable them . A bug?

I have them back up for now, let's see how long this lasts ....

I got invaded by Pokemon on my blog. I've deleted all of them manually.

Nostalgia, the dart boards have all but disappeared from the pubs here ,
which is a shame 'cause I was thinking about picking up a sport again.

Unfortunately comment spam is quite common amongst weblog sites. The popular weblog software like movabletype has plugins written for it to help deal with the stuff. Your best bet with a custom weblog might be either a regexp based delete or comment moderation.

ahh ok. I'm not sure exactly what sort of setup you have for the weblogs. Generally the lines of defence would be some kind of moderation (either blanket moderation of comments or moderation based on regular expressions (eg texas holdem)), or firefighting, where you would delete stuff after the event. alternatively you can shift the burden to the user by requiring registration or human-intervention through those picture type things, but that's discouraging to the average reader.

Most of the lines of defence require that your system be written to allow for them, or that you can directly access the database to run deletes (not very user friendly.) People have written some fairly good plugins for things like movabletype that practically eliminate all the hard work. mt-blacklist for example, which you should be able to find through a google search, would be a good code base to work from if you wanted to write your own filtering backend.
