Ajay Kumar Gautam writes "Good Morning SirHappy New Year,I am Ajay Kumar Gautam from Mumbai(India)I want to work on one project that project is related to database.Object: - To develop application to convert, transfer and migrate data from the oracle / sql databases to the Linux operating system based database. In this project i will make one application in these database (oracle/ sql) migrating tables by using stored procedure or etc work same application should work in the Linux operating system based database with out too many changes then we can say that our project is working fine In this project “The general conception is migrating tables from one database to other (matching the datatypes), but another critical aspect is stored procedures. I should also work on that. Secondly, the main thrust is on application migration. Any application that was working with ORACLE for example, must work with Linux operating system based database now without too many changes but for the data connection string etc. That’s the main thing in this project.”I have knowledge of SQL so could you guide me or give me the points step wise step so that I can able to make this application tools.Wait for replyRegardsAjay Kumar Gautam" |

I figured that I would put an infinite number of monkeys in an infinitely large room with an infinite number of computers loaded up with VS.NET 2003 and eventually they'll come up with the app! |

LOL!! Thanks for the link, Rob! "Our chimps and bonobos handle complex maintenance tasks and are experts at debugging techniques. For this reason chimps usually have a higher bill rate." |

These types of frameworks already exist. They are called persistance frameworks or Object Relational Mappers |

Actually, I don't think he's talking about an OR mapper; sounds to me like a data transformation / integration product. There are lots of those on the market already too, including DTS :) |

But sadly I don't think DTS is going to rewrite Oracle SProcs into a "Linux operating system based database" - which sounds a lot like MySQL to me - lolKristen |
