It's like a security company that maintains an access list for other companies...

The link brought me there...

Now, it's saying I'm not authorized to go to that page...

but they blocked dbforums....

Brett,

I think it is like the company my previous site used (websense I think): the comany allegedly builds a databases of "bad" sites, and categorizes them. Subscribing companies choose categories that they want blocked, and it blocks them - I think they have "update" lists that live on the firewall somewhere.

You *should* be able to list your required sites, and have your sysadm's remove it from the blocked sites - it usually took a mail and motivation at my previous site.

Guess it all those wild joins they figure are non-business related

Both links work for me.

I can't believe that dbforums.com got added to the list at your company. I'm sure you'll be able to swindle someone into removing the block though.

Check this out...they actually got back to me...

quote:

Hello Mr. Kaiser-

That site is blocked under the Computing/Internet and Forum/Bulletin Boards
categories for SmartFilter V4, and under the "Chat" category for V3. If you
feel it should be classified differently you can go to
http://www.smartfilterwhere.com and request that it be changed.

Otherwise, you can ask the System Administrator of your network to add the
site to your exempt sites list, and it will then be accessible, even if its
category is still being blocked.

Thank You, Pamela

Chat category. Interesting. What happens when you run into a problem that you can't fix and need to go searching the internet for the answer? Rhetorical of course. How lame. Take it up with your boss, I guess.

My company has recently blocked dbforums too - same deal (chat content). Glad they haven't seen the need to block this site, though.

Also tried the-cloak and got this message:

"Anonymizer/Translator" content is forbidden by company Information Security policy.

Haven't these nazi's got something better to do with their time????

"Or is sqlteam flying under the radar?"...possibly because the number of references to YAK have diminished recently..........

maybe we come under the categorisation...."public service"....or "useful + authorative"
