How cheeky is that?

I don't suppose it would be possible to have a link/button that contains the most-recently-displayed-message-time (actually, server time would do), that we could click that would just display any NEW messages?

I work my way down Active, and then press refresh (having set it to LAST HOUR or somesuch) and then try to work out where the "join" is between what I just read and what's been posted since.

I could have a hack around Snitz (we use it for some of our clients) if it would help, and if there is any demand ... <yawn>

Dont hit refresh then. Simply restart your browser and navigate to the Active Topics page...at least that's what I do.

I wondered how it decided when the "Last visit on ..." was from. I suppose I could put a shortcut to that page somewhere - bit of a PITA though as I have two windows open, the ACTIVE list and another window that I drag the links to to read them - keeping the ACTIVE list in place.

But thanks for the thought, it does indeed work.

OMG, you mean you are still using IE??!! How old are you?! If you want to save some time for a social life, get yourself a real browser. I can swear that once you get used to tabbed browsing, you'll wonder how you ever lived without it!

Hmmm. I'll consider it but I really hate to modify Snitz. Every time there's an upgrade I lose all my changes.

Eh? How would that help here?
Non-tabbed situation: you have the active forum page open in one window, you see a subject that looks interesting, you drag it to the other window. If it turns out to be another "how do I use IN with this comma-separated string", just drag the next subject that looks interesting.
How does a tabbed browser make that pattern easier?

Well, there are two monitors on this desk, but they're connected to different computers (2 different networks, 2 different organizations, 1 building, 0 people certain who the building belongs to!).
For 2 monitors on one PC, I have to go home

On the "Active Topics" main page. After you've read/responded/and responded/and responded/and responded you can click the half-purple half-tan folder in the top left of the topic listing and it will mark everything as read and update your "last viewing" time so that only new messages (including replies to current topics and new topics) will display when you come back to "Active Topics" it's really nice.

I know what you mean.

Well, I've had a bash and its about 6 lines of code in ACTIVE.ASP. But I don't really have an environment for proper testing here. I'll get one of the lads to bash in messages tomorrow so I can test it.

I'd be happy to send you my ACTIVE.ASP with the changed lines highlighted - would that be any good?

(Basically I added an option "Reload" to the "Active topics since" pull-down-list, and a hidden form field containing the server date when the page was rendered. Choosing RELOAD just sets the "lastDate" to the date/time in the hidden form field)

EDIT: And now I'll go and pull all the mods out of ACTIVE.ASP

Thanks drymchaser, readily-available-solution. But you gotta learn to post faster

That darn 2 year hiatus is killing me.

Not to mention the "extra" delay for my postings I have made posts that have yet to hit the count.

I am converted to "Mark all topics as read". That is SO SO much better than by previous string and chewing gum. God Darn! And Thanks!

Yea what's up with that. Yesterday evening (in US that is you're at 470ish) this AM > 500.

Graz, I would like the "post-accelerator" version of SQLTeam please.

BTW congrats Kristen on your newfound "Aged"-ness :)

I'd prefer the 'salary-accelerator' version....if it's available.
