It's old stuff for you but just in time for me . . .

Great piece on "More Trees & Hierarchies in SQL". It was a great help to me.

Best regards,
Guy"

Not in person. I'm beginning to think it's an auto-responder that Graz programmed, and that's how he's got so many posts.

But perhaps my theory will be proven wrong if he actually shows up at the PASS conference in Orlando, now that we're bringing it practically to his back yard.

Seems like someone other than Rob should step in and write the follow up article to Trees & Hierarchies in SQL.

Any takers?

Yukon will do away with any need....

But yeah, I gave it a shot...and it came down to business reason on what to do...

wish I could find the code of my attempt..

BUT

What do you do? If a Parent has children and you remove the parent, what do you do?

If you add a child does become stepchild or an intemediary parent?

There became a lot of combinations...

You could end up with whole orphaned branches..

That's not even taking in to account if a child had 2 parents...

Well, I find myself wanting (more and more) to wait for Yukon and Whidby before embarking on any significant new development.

I wonder what features we will be posting wish lists about in Yukon in a few years?

So Graz found almost all the problems we have today are solved, but...

Software is an onion.

Peel away the skin, you get more skin.

Like Ogres...Orgers have layers...Onions have layers...

ya gotta have kids for this one...

But I'll tell you though...the row number thing, where people may think it's godsend...is going to cause MORE hell on earth
