Is it not possible to get INSTANT notifications of topic replies, etc? This is an absolutely invaluable component of forum membership and activity (IMO), yet all I get is a daily digest , which does me no good...and I can't find an option in profile to change this. Surely there is a better way .. ? |

Click on REPLY TO THIS TOPIC, rather than using Quick Reply, and check the TickBox to "Subscribe to this topic"Or use the link above Quick Reply, or top-right of the page, to "Subscribe to this topic"I *think* that does what you want. |

Ironically, I did get notification to your reply in THIS post of mine...(instant, so to speak - not a daily digest).Yes - I ALWAYS subscribe to my topics. And when I rely, I see the checkbox has changed to 'check here to unsubscribe...', which I take to mean I am subscribed and all is good.Yet I never, ever get instant notifications (until this thread today). I refresh the page during the day in order to see who has replied to me. Then I get a daily digest at night (which I take to mean it's unlikely that my work email is somehow blocking them - because the nightly digests come thru, no problem). |

I don't have any issues with the subscription offer of the topics I'm interested in. I'm pretty active in these forums, so I rarely will subscribe, but I do it occasionally when I want to make sure I see updates for ones I don't reply to but am interested in the answers.Tara KizerSQL Server MVP since 2007http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/tarad/ |
