Hi,
I went to Microsoft site to install SQL Server 2008 Express, and everything seemed to go good in down loading it, but I can not get management studio to appear in the start menu. I went to installation but when I clicked on it just asked me for a installation folder to put it in; but nothing I picked would work. It just kept coming back that this is not an except able folder. Now I am not sure this is even the problem but I thought that I would start there.
Also, I thought that I would mention that I am using Windows
7 (64 bit), but it did have to install for this version, so I do not know.
Any ideas would be really appreciated.
Thank you

Don't you need to separately download and install Management Studio Express as Express doesn't come with it? That was the case on 2005 at least.

It worked but one quick question:
Now when I am trying to log in it wants a server name. Since this si new I do not know what to put there. I tryed local since it is on my lap top, but that did not work. Any thoughts on this?
Thank you

It's the name of your computer and then likely \SQLEXPRESS. You could use (local) if you don't know the name of your computer or type in hostname in a cmd window to get the name. But again you likely need to add \SQLEXPRESS.

So here's an example: MyComputerName\SQLEXPRESS
