7. Why are you trying to put a touch-screen interface on a desktop OS? I really want to use a touch interface on my 40" TV (that's used as a monitor for two computers). Not.--Gail ShawSQL Server MVP |

Can wait to see the Metro UI version of SSMS. Every RDMS needs a pretty interface that changes with every release so that it takes about a year to get productive with the new one.SSMS isn't that great anyway. Were any DBAs involved in the design and testing of SSMS, or was it something they just had some some summer interns knock out?CODO ERGO SUM |

No, there weren't. (That's directly from someone at MS)I think they have a comfortable relationship with certain vendors who make similar products so that they don't quite compete on features. That's just my opinion anyway, but I've gotten vibes from both sides to that effect. And I like the idea of Metro for touch devices, but on desktops now it's completely hosed. I tried Server 8 on my laptop for about 5 minutes and was getting stabby. And it's damn near impossible to turn it off, especially in a VM. |

I take option 8 I remember all the fuss before windows 95 came out and assume Microsoft aren't so crazy that they think everyone who uses Windows will suddenly go out and buy a touch device to use the new version.-----------If you can't spot the sucker, its you. |

you can blame me. I worked on it for the 2005 release. All I really got to do was fix bugs though, joined too late in the cycle.the only feature I got to do from scratch was "job activity monitor"man that seems like centuries ago. elsasoft.org |

The OS on my windows phone is ok. I really don't like the idea of my desktop being the same tho.
