kevin writes "Hello all! My question concerns performance of a SS 7 db. It is occasionally very sluggish. We have eliminated most of the sources of the poor performance, but I noticed that the graphics card on the server may have problems - the monitor colors were only red and black yesterday. Would a poor video driver impact SS performance (NT trying to paint several client screens, resulting in resource issues and therefore poor performance)? That, at least, is my theory. If anyone out there has experienced anything like this, I'd like to hear from you!thankskevin" |

The only thing I've heard of remotely similar is with 3D screensavers on the console of the server causing performance problems as they kick in (not something you'd think of straight away if you couldn't see the monitor)However these are unlikely scenario's. Use Profiler and Perfmon to try and capture what is going on at these times of sluggish response and see if anything stands outHTHJasper Smith |
