Greetings,I've paused mirroring between two SQL Server 2008 R2 using non standard ports with a witness. When I click on resume a "Connect to Mirror Server Instance" dialog box pops up with the server name of the mirror MINUS the non standard port and it's grayed out so I can't edit it. Basically I cannot add the non standard port to the connection string for the mirror and it won't connect.Has anyone seen this before? |

Figured it out. I had to create an Alias for the server name and port in Configuration Manager. Strange how you can't edit the connection string in the mirror dialog box though. |

If you expect to do a lot of mirror (re)configuration it's definitely worth learning the T-SQL syntax rather than deal with the GUI. It's really not that hard. |

That being said I think running more or less anything on non standard ports in sql server requires you to create an alias.- LumbagoMy blog-> http://thefirstsql.com/2011/07/08/how-to-find-gaps-in-identity-columns-at-the-speed-of-light/ |

I'm referring to non standard ports for SQL Server only. Thanks, |
