Brand new SBS 2011 server - have Exchange on Domain Controller. Have a 2008 server attached with SQL 2005 and a new Premium server with SQL 2008 - I can't attach to either SQL server from a workstation using ODBC. I think all the firewalls are turned off. |

All that tells us is that it's a connection error. The full text of the error message would help.Check all the usual stuff:- does user have permissions- firewall not blocking- remote connections enabledcheck if you can connect via ssms |

Thanks for your help. It's hard for me to believe that 'named pipes' is disabled by default - enabling solved the problem - it's always the most overlooked that solves the problem |
