I'm changing jobs, and the new employer uses mostly Oracle, not SQL Server. I know virtually nothing about Oracle. I assume the SQL is similar, but I don't even know how to log on! Does anyone have a reference or ideas where I can go to get up to speed on Oracle pretty quickly? I'm not a DBA, just an architect, so I don't need internals, just how to log on, SQL references (And differences from SQL Server), etc. Thanks,Steve |

While I know that this is a SQL Server site, I was betting I wasn't the only one who gets bounced back and forth from platform to platform, and what I'm looking for is someone who knows both SQL Server and Oracle. But I will hunt down an Oracle site. |

I believe (don't quote me) that 2005 brought SQL SERVER and oracle a lot closer in terms of features? Windowing functions etc existed in oracle allready and I think the syntax is broadly similar. If your employer employed you knowing that you don't have a lot of experience of oracle they'll probably be fine with you getting the hang of the ropesAs long as you didn't claim to be an oracle expert? :)Charlie===============================================================Msg 3903, Level 16, State 1, Line 1736The ROLLBACK TRANSACTION request has no corresponding BEGIN TRANSACTION |
