Dear All,

i tried shrink log file of a database but it completed very fast and have no effect on .ldf file. Therefore i try using (DBCC SHRINKFILE(fun, 0)) also completed in second and have no effect on .ldf.

What is happening to .ldf?

Probably used blocks near the end of the file or open transactions

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
SSIS can be used in a similar way.

Have you backed up the transaction log? It will not shrink if you have transactions in the log that are not backed up...

Why do you need to shrink the log file? What happened that it is now so large that you feel it needs to be made smaller?
