The team I am in have been instructed to come up with a new job title for everyone however the catch is that it's not to include any IT specific terms - so IT is out, administrator is ok but not database adminstrator. Ideally (though not essentially) it should include Senior in the title. Personally I think it should have a good acronym but my suggestion of Senior Higher IT Executive as dismissed . Any and all suggestions gleefully received.steve-----------If debugging is the process of removing software bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in. |

I have to ask: Do they have an actual reason for this? That is, a reason that makes sense to someone who isn't an HR weenie?Sounds like an attempt to downgrade the job description to something non-technical sounding so they don't have to pay as much for those high priced database administrators. How about these:Senior Knowledge ArchitectSenior Knowledge EngineerCODO ERGO SUM |

Hee hee - Michael, the short answer to your question is no of course, though to be fair to them (someone has to be) it's more of a political decision. I do like your suggestions though they may even get used - watch this space.Jim they are great - others that have cropped up should anyone be interested areInformation Rationalisation And Telegnostic EngineerChief Swashbuckler and Idea Merchant (pity about the acronym)-----------If debugging is the process of removing software bugs, then programming must be the process of putting them in. |
