I haven't but I've talked to a number of PASS chapter leaders who have. If you know the people who run your local PASS chapter, and/or ran your latest SQL Saturday, you might want to just work with them. No sense reinventing the wheel unless you don't like their group.PASS has some info on their chapters here: http://www.sqlpass.org/PASSChapters.aspxI can't find much about setting up a local group, but if you contact Douglas he can definitely give you good information (I know him fairly well, he was chapter leader in Atlanta for a number of years, and he's seriously dedicated to the community)If you're not too thrilled with PASS, and don't want to go it alone, you should check out SQL People: http://sqlpeople.net/about.aspxIt's a recent community started by Andy Leonard, but he is an old pro at SQL Server and community building and a great guy to know. He is generous with everyone and would probably welcome a new user group. |
