Welcome to a brand new set of problems that you are ill-equipped to solve

I can't terminate any crashed app in Task manager on any of my Win-7-Pro PCs, for example. So I now have to hard boot (usually power-off) at least once a day, whereas it used to be once or twice a month when everything got seriously clagged up.

Thus due to teh frequency of reboot I now need a macro to reopen Query Analyser windows at start up just how I like them (first one must be connected to DEV Server/DB, second one must load TEST.SQL which is a safe BeginTrans/Rollback window for adhoc queries that can't screw up a live DB by accident, then I need windows onto each "surface" I'm likely to get asked to fix today ...)

Damn! You've nodded off again ...

Kristen.

Have you tried process explorer: It's pretty sweet. No experience of it on windows 7 though.

I have to kill a checkpoint service regularly when it screws up and I can't access any of the live clients any mote. Process explorer + services.msc and I'm back up and running in about 25 seconds.
