we have acidentally formatted the importatnt drive on our db server where the sql server 2008 .bak, .mdf, .ldf files are created. A little while later the windows server crashed and everything was gone. We retrieved some thousands of files by using a 3r party recovery tool..by connecting the hard drive to a different machine. When tried to restore these recovered files a message cameup saying not to restore the files to same locations, the restore operation may not be successful. At that point we copied all those restored files on an external hard drive. We have all the restored .mdf, .ldf and .bak files related to the sql server in that external hard drive. We now have a fresh installation of windows server and sql server 2008 and wondering how to restore the database back on this new installation. is it possible? Please help! |
