Hi, I recently did a fresh install on a Windows 2003 SP2 server, I installed SQL Server 2008 first as the default instance, then I installed Windows Server 2000 Developer edition as a new instance (called SQL2000). I can connect remotely to the SQL Server 2008 machine no problem, but I can't see the 2000 instance at all, even when I use [servername]\SQL2000. Is it because they are sharing the same port? Any suggestions? thanks. |

Thanks for the reply, I have done in that order locally, but not on a server. How do I change the port? I know I can change the port in the Network Client Utility, what should I change it to? I tried changing it to 1434 but that didn't work. thank you. |

Actually, I followed this link http://www.serratedsoftware.net/Blog/tabid/54/EntryID/21/Default.aspxand discovered that it was listening on port 2359. I was able to connect using [servername]\SQL2000,2359. Thanks for your help! |
