Good day. We had a SQL DBA in who was a specialist in the area of hardware and troubleshooting. We currently have a database on a single filegroup which consists of one data file. On the recommendation we are going to create a second filegroup consisting of 8 data files so that the we can make use of our 8 processors. My question is this. If I do move the tables/indexes with the alter command will this distribute the objects evenly across the data files in the new filegroup. As i wasn't in the primary discussion our manager indicated the SQL DBA said it would, I would just like to confirm this. ThanksDan |
